Lucille Kincaid Named WDIY Classical Music Librarian

WDIY volunteer Lucille Kincaid has been named music librarian for the WDIY Janet Goloub Classical Music Library. Kincaid is a weekly host of WDIY Classics and will continue in her hosting duties as well.

Pennsylvania March Composer Ron Degrandis on WDIY Classics

WDIY Classics host George Fennell welcomes Lehigh Valley composer Ron DeGrandis to the studio to discuss his latest composition, "The Pennsylvania March", the first ever march composed for the state.

Ron discusses the reason for composing the march and also demonstrates some of his other recent works. In addition to composition, Ron is also a retired school music educator from the Bethlehem area and plays viola in the Allentown Symphony Orchestra.

WDIY Classics host Karen El-Chaar speaks with Dr. Stephen Sametz, Lehigh University Choral Arts Artistic Director, about his oratorio "A Child's Requiem."  Dedicated to those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14, 2012, Newtown, Connecticut, the libretto is based on writings of elementary school children in response to tragedy and loss.

"A Child's Requiem" will be performed at Zoellner Arts Center, November 6th & 7th at 8PM in Baker Hall.

The Bach Choir and LU Philharmonic on WDIY Classics

Host Karen El-Chaar welcomes Eugene Albulescu, the director of the Lehigh University Philharmonic, and Greg Funfgeld, the artistic director and conductor of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, to discuss their upcoming collaboration. The Bach Choir and the LU Philharmonic will be playing at Zoellner Arts Center on Friday, April 10th and Saturday April 11th at 8pm.
