Weekly generative prompts will inspire you whether you’re just beginning your kidlit adventure, or you’re already working on a piece and want to hone it further. 11-week in-person or virtual program provides information while addressing the needs of grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Pinebrook Family Answers (PbFA) popular Grandparents Group psychoeducational support program begins on Wednesday, February 19th and runs through April 30th. The one-hour classes begin at 11 am, open to the community, virtual or in person. The 11-week program provides support and resources for grandparents, non-custodial caregivers and guardians who are raising children. Topics include understanding legal terms and processes; refining parenting skills, understanding child-developmental stages and positive discipline; building relationships through effective communication skills, intrapersonal connections, and conflict resolution; helping kids process trauma; and much more.
In addition to the educational information provided, the goal of the group is to provide opportunities for members to connect with each other, lessen feelings of isolation and create community that can extend beyond our group setting. When everyday life doesn’t inspire us, we can turn to other art forms to move us. Learn how to build a friendship between verse and art by using the energy of music, paintings, films and more to create exciting ekphrastic poems. This encouraging workshop will help you collect inspirations and engage with structures, themes and motifs of other artists. You will read published examples of ekphrastic poetry, complete generative exercises and share drafts with fellow writers. Come empty-handed to write something new, or bring some works-in progress to revise. Led by Cynthia Arrieu-King.

Tap Talks are a regular series of educational talks on environmental and conservation topics with a focus on water, given by regional experts and held at local breweries, wineries, distilleries and coffee shops. Come out to meet like-minded people, deepen your knowledge and support a local business.

This one-hour workshop, designed for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, will allow kids to explore mindfulness in a way that’s accessible, joyful, and meaningful. The session will introduce a playful mindfulness technique and pair it with a hands-on craft that reinforces emotional awareness, focus, and self-expression.

Join Wildlands Conservancy for a hands-on Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour at Louise Moore Park. This immersive conservation experience provides an opportunity to directly support monarch butterfly populations and restore crucial pollinator habitats in the Lehigh Valley. Led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist and a Wildlands Environmental Educator, this event is designed to connect participants with Wildlands’ mission to protect and restore the region's natural landscapes, while fostering environmental stewardship through science and education.
Program Highlights:
* Monarch Tagging as Citizen ScienceUnder the expert guidance of our Environmental Educator, participants will learn how to carefully capture and tag monarch butterflies as they prepare for their migration to Mexico. By contributing to this important citizen science project, you’ll help track monarch populations and support international efforts to monitor their migration and survival.
* Meadow RestorationLed by our Senior Restoration Ecologist, participants will take part in hands-on restoration efforts to enhance vital pollinator habitats. You'll learn about the role of native meadows in supporting monarchs and other pollinators, then work alongside our experts to plant native species and remove invasive plants to improve the habitat quality for these important creatures. Planting will be tentative based on plant availability.

Drop-in to the Art Ways Interactive Family Gallery on the second floor of the Museum every Saturday and Sunday to make your own art to take home during ArtVentures. Museum educators are on hand to help guide you in creating an artwork inspired by the Museum’s collection. Design your own creation and bring it to life on one of our 3D printers. Explore the beauty of Minsi Lake on a guided canoe adventure with Wildlands Conservancy!
Join us for a serene paddle across Minsi Lake, where you’ll learn about the lake’s fascinating history, the wildlife that thrive there, and the conservation efforts that help protect this natural area. This casual guided tour offers a perfect blend of outdoor recreation and education, ideal for families and nature lovers.
How to Join:- Need a canoe? Select "Tandem Canoe Rental" during registration to reserve one of our tandem canoes at no charge. Paddles and PFDs (personal flotation devices) are provided. Tandem canoes can fit two adults and one small child (approximately 3 to 6 years old).- Bringing your own boat? Choose the "Bring Your Own Boat" option and be sure to bring your own paddle and PFD.
Important Details:- Best for ages 3+, younger children can join in tandem canoes.- Space is limited, and registration is required for all group members.
