Easton’s Hugh Moore Park is a picturesque extension of the City of Easton where America’s golden age of canals is on full display. With more than two miles of restored Lehigh Canal, a canal boat attraction unlike any other in Pennsylvania and the rest of the Northeast, and one of the country’s largest canal heritage museums, the 520-acre park nestled between the Lehigh Canal and Lehigh River is a throwback to the years when mules pulling canal boats on narrow towpaths was a common sight in much of the United States east of the Mississippi River.
The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor interprets this fascinating period of American history in the park through the National Canal Museum and rides on the 110-passenger Josiah White II canal boat (June-October). Explore our fun, hands-on exhibits highlighting 19th century canal life and technology.
New improvements to Hugh Moore Park have made it a destination that families do not want to miss! A playground, bike skills course, dog park, and multi-use path await you. You can also rent bikes, canoes, paddleboats, and kayaks to explore the park from the Welcome Center (June-October).
Take time to explore the information on this website and get directions before you visit. Please note that tour groups may be present while planning your visit to our museum. As a small museum, we recommend allowing yourself ample time to explore, especially if there are groups also enjoying the museum during your visit. If you have any questions regarding your visit please contact us at canalmuseum@delawareandlehigh.org.
Drop-in to the Art Ways Interactive Family Gallery on the second floor of the Museum every Saturday and Sunday to make your own art to take home during ArtVentures. Museum educators are on hand to help guide you in creating an artwork inspired by the Museum’s collection. Design your own creation and bring it to life on one of our 3D printers. All ages and abilities welcome! Free.
Godfrey Daniels welcomes a co-bill featuring Karyn Oliver and Kate Gaffney. Oliver, winner of the 2020 South Florida Folk Festival Songwriters’ Competition, brings a voice that bridges blues, country, and folk traditions. Her albums, including A List of Names and Cherchez La Femme, have earned national recognition on Folk and Americana radio.Joining her is Philadelphia-born Kate Gaffney, whose career has taken her from California’s festival stages back to her Pennsylvania roots. With four albums to her name and performances alongside artists like Richie Havens, Todd Snider, and Chris Smither, Gaffney’s songwriting blends authenticity with a natural connection to her audience.
Together, these two accomplished artists promise an evening of storytelling, rich vocals, and the kind of close-knit musical experience that defines Godfrey Daniels as a premier Live Music Listening Room.
