When thinking of jazz and the most mainstream touchstones of this wholly American art form, the first two names that come to mind are Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
In 2026, the music world will celebrate the 100th birthdays of these cultural icons.
Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest is excited to present a dynamic ensemble led by pianist Emmet Cohen, featuring saxophonist Tivon Pennicott and trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, who will celebrate these geniuses in Miles and Coltrane at 100!
The quintet will perform a wide range of tunes made famous over the decades of both Davis and Coltrane's storied output, both together in the First Great Quintet and after.
Emmet Cohen is one of his generation's most pivotal figures in jazz music and the related arts.
Leader of the Emmet Cohen Trio and creator of the Masters Legacy Series, Cohen is an internationally acclaimed artist and dedicated educator whose artistry has taken him to venues and festivals all over the world.
Emmet's entrepreneurial energies led to his developing "Live from Emmet's Place," a live-streamed "Harlem rent party" that unites a worldwide audience via tens of millions of internet views during COVID.
Besides leading the Emmet Cohen Trio, he has appeared regularly with Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Jimmy Cobb, Goerge Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Tootie Heath, Houston Person, Kurt Elling, Billy Hart, and Brian Lynch, among others.

From barefoot dreadlocked troubadour to suave standard-bearer for contemporary R&B, Eric Benét may have changed his look, but one thing has remained consistent: his dedication to crafting authentic music that engages the soul.
“I’m not chasing any current whatevers,” says Benét, who will be making his first Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest appearance. “It’s about music that gives me goose bumps and touches my soul. That’s always been a good barometer for me.”
Grammy-nominated vocalist recently made a powerful comeback with The Co-Star, his first full-length album in nearly a decade -- and he did not come alone.
The project features an all-star cast of vocal queens and rising talents, solidifying Benét’s legacy as a master collaborator. As the album title suggests, Benét steps into the role of “co-star,” sharing center stage with some of R&B’s most compelling voices -- Keri Hilson, Ari Lennox, India.Arie, Alex Isley, Chante Moore, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tamar Braxton, Ledisi, and Goapele.

April 2026, marks the 33 year anniversary of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s remarkable arrival onto the music scene. Since its formation in the early nineties in Ventura, California, the band has toured virtually nonstop, performing on average over 150 shows a year, and has produced a sizable catalog of recorded music, with sales of over 2 million albums to date. Early on, during their legendary residency at the Derby nightclub in Los Angeles, they reminded the world, in the midst of the grunge era no less, that it was still cool to swing. The band, co-founded by singer Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, was at the forefront of the swing revival of that time, blending a vibrant fusion of the classic American sounds of jazz, swing, and dixieland, with the energy and spirit of contemporary culture.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all original core line-up includes Scotty Morris (lead vocals and guitar), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (double bass and vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen "The Kid" Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet) and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger).
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s efforts to promote and revitalize swing music have taken shape as much more than a simple tribute. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band’s original horn-infused music and legendary high energy show introduces the genre to a new and younger generation while remaining cognizant and respectful of the music’s rich legacy.
