A musical sensation formed in 2016 in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, The Hu quartet are the pioneers of the genre Hunnu Rock, with almost 900 million global streams to their name – and counting.
Formed in 1993 at the world-renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, Apocalyptica began life as a loving, lo-fi nod to Metallica from four classically-trained musicians with no greater ambition than to explore their favourite band’s music with their chosen instrument.
The NYC Ska Orchestra is a unique 18-piece big band that blends the exuberant musical layers of the jazz Big Band era with Jamaican roots music. Led by trumpeter and vocalist Kevin Batchelor, and featuring Jamaican music legend Larry MacDonald on congas and vocals, they create and perform lush original compositions and arrangements of classic songs from the rich and culturally iconic Jamaican music of ska, mento, rock steady, reggae, and jazz from the 1950s and 1960s. Together, Batchelor and MacDonald have recorded and/or performed with nearly every great Jamaican music artist, including Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Lee Scratch Perry, Skatalites, and Toots & The Maytals; and regularly work with the leading Jamaican artists of today.
After first sharing a bill nearly two decades ago, Heather Aubrey Lloyd and Matt Nakoa have spent years crisscrossing the country as touring songwriters, occasionally reuniting to trade songs and stories from the road. Nakoa brings his background as a trained pianist and award-winning songwriter, known for moving easily between piano-driven pop, folk, and roots influences. Lloyd arrives with her new album Panic Room With A View, shaped by years of adventurous touring and a voice paired with finger-picked guitar and hand percussion. Their return to Godfrey Daniels offers a rare chance to hear two seasoned performers meet in the middle, sharing hard-earned songs in the close-up setting of a Live Music Listening Room.
