Payroll employment in the Valley is trending up.
Revised data from the PA Department of Labor and Industry show that seasonally adjusted payroll employment in the Lehigh Valley reached 400,000 in March 2025—an increase of 7,000 jobs compared to last year. Despite this job growth, the unemployment rate rose to 4.4%; although still low, it is measurably higher than last year’s average of 3.9%.
