Wildlands Conservancy – Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour

Wildlands Conservancy – Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour
Join Wildlands Conservancy for a hands-on Monarch Tagging & Meadow Restoration Tour at Louise Moore Park. This immersive conservation experience provides an opportunity to directly support monarch butterfly populations and restore crucial pollinator habitats in the Lehigh Valley. Led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist and a Wildlands Environmental Educator, this event is designed to connect participants with Wildlands’ mission to protect and restore the region's natural landscapes, while fostering environmental stewardship through science and education.
Program Highlights:
* Monarch Tagging as Citizen Science
Under the expert guidance of our Environmental Educator, participants will learn how to carefully capture and tag monarch butterflies as they prepare for their migration to Mexico. By contributing to this important citizen science project, you’ll help track monarch populations and support international efforts to monitor their migration and survival.
* Meadow Restoration
Led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist, participants will take part in hands-on restoration efforts to enhance vital pollinator habitats. You'll learn about the role of native meadows in supporting monarchs and other pollinators, then work alongside our experts to plant native species and remove invasive plants to improve the habitat quality for these important creatures. Planting will be tentative based on plant availability.
* Join Us Next Month:
Interested in bringing the beauty of meadows to your own backyard? Join us next month for an Introductory Course: Building a Meadow in Your Backyard, where, on 10/10/2025, we’ll teach you the basics of creating a pollinator-friendly space at home.
This program is offered free of charge through funding from Northampton County. Please register online.
