Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Thomas Darling Preserve Hike

Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Thomas Darling Preserve Hike

Explore Wildlands Conservancy’s Thomas Darling Preserve, home to one of Pennsylvania’s largest spruce forests. This glacial wetland, spanning over 1,300 acres, is rich in biodiversity and serves as prime habitat for birdwatching, hiking, and conservation efforts.

Wildlands, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and Tobyhanna Township, has implemented trail improvements, environmental education opportunities, and habitat restoration projects. Nesting boxes have been installed to support the endangered Northern Flying Squirrel, and restoration efforts focus on species such as the Golden-Winged Warbler and Cerulean Warbler.

The 2.1-mile trail is mostly level but features rocky and marshy terrain. Be prepared for wet conditions.

What to Bring:

- Waterproof footwear
- Hiking poles (optional; loaners available)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- There are no restrooms at this location. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Get Out! For Wellness events are free and are made possible with funding from Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Questions? Contact Nicole Landis at Nlandis@wildlandspa.org.
Event is free; registration is requested at: https://engage.wildlandspa.org/calendar/event/285.
