The Camerata Singers Spring Concert
The Camerata Singers will present their Spring Concert on April 27, 2024, 7:30 PM at First Presbyterian in Allentown.
Join us for our Spring Concert under the direction of Eduardo Azzati and guest performers, organist, Mark Laubauch, and Main Street Brass.
A Journey of Trial and Triumph, including Franz Liszt's Variations on "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen" (Weeping, Wailing, Grieving, Quailing) for organ, a set of intricate variations on the German Lenten chorale tune, full of evocative musical motives and harmonies depicting the title and text of the chorale; Franz Liszt's Via crucis (The 14 Stations of the Cross) for chorus and organ, a musical narration of Jesus' poignant journey to the cross; Zoltán Kodály's Pange lingua for chorus and organ, a multimovement setting of the Eucharistic hymn, full of lyricism and attractive harmonies. The program concludes with Bob Chilcott's Gloria for chorus, organ, brass quintet and timpani, an exuberant setting of the famous Latin text.
