The U.S. Army has ordered over 100 new Mack dump trucks that are being manufactured at the company’s Allentown production line. WDIY’s Sarit Laschinsky has more.

Mack Defense announced Tuesday that the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve have ordered an additional 144 of its M917A3 Heavy Dump Trucks, which will be used by the U.S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

The new orders are part of a previously-announced, firm-fixed price, $296 million contract the Army awarded Mack defense in 2018, to be fulfilled over seven years. The Army previously ordered 155 HDT’s, which Mack said have all been built, with final vehicle deliveries continuing through August 2022.

The HDT is produced at the Mack Experience Center production line in Allentown, where production started in Q1 2021, following a $6.5 million investment to create a dedicated HDT production line.
