Honoring Women's History Month with Roberta Meek | WDIY News Exclusive

Roberta Meek

In honor of International Women's Day and Women's History Month, Marcie Lightwood spotlights Roberta Meek; a local civil and women's rights leader who will lead a virtual fundraiser for LEPOCO, a peace and justice group in Bethlehem with a more than 50-year history of community activism.

Roberta Meek has involved herself in matters of peace and justice, community building, academia, women’s concerns, Black Lives Matter, civil rights, African-American history, music and theater - all in the Lehigh Valley.

Marcie Lightwood came to WDIY to set up WDIY's first on-air membership drive, and she has stayed with the station ever since. Marcie is a self-employed social worker, specializing in parenting education, working with people in poverty and group facilitation. Currently, Marcie serves as local host for NPR's All Things Considered on Friday afternoons along with producing special WDIY news features. She is the mother of four grown children and lives in Allentown.
