At the end of June, WDIY held our first ever Homebrew Fest celebrating the homebrewers of the Lehigh Valley. HiJinx Brewing Company was on-hand to select a winning beer which would be brewed on their professional system at their Allentown microbrewery.
Host Bill Dautremont-Smith welcomes the winning Homebrew Fest brewers, Barry Schippang and Mike Orange, whose robust porter, “Friend’s Porter,” was completed and tapped this weekend at HiJinx. Also joining us is HiJinx Brewing Company head brewer Chris Becker. They discuss the process of brewing the beer from start to finish, why Friend’s Porter was selected as the winner, where you can taste the winning brew, and more.
