Wildlands Conservancy – Spring Peeper Sound Study

Wildlands Conservancy – Spring Peeper Sound Study

This is a rare opportunity to step into the role of a wildlife researcher and experience the incredible sounds of spring firsthand! Advance registration required.

As the sun sets, the forest comes alive with the magical sounds of spring peepers! These tiny frogs may be small, but their calls fill the evening air, welcoming the season. Though they can be tricky to spot, their chorus is a sure sign that spring has arrived!

Join us for a family-friendly sunset hike through Wildlands Conservancy's South Mountain Preserve, where we’ll listen and look for spring peepers, salamanders, and other signs of spring awakening in the woods. Along the way, we’ll learn about these fascinating creatures, their important role in nature, and how we can help protect them. We will be conducting a frog call survey, listening carefully to identify different species based on their unique calls. Participants will learn how scientists use sound to track amphibian populations and why monitoring frogs is essential for conservation efforts.

Event is free; please register online.
