Steeples and Steel Minibus Tours - September 2 - 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM

Steeples and Steel Minibus Tours - September 2 - 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM

Join us on Steeples and Steel tours this Labor Day weekend. Help us pay tribute to the thousands of Bethlehem steelworkers who toiled to create the steel that built America and defended the world. Tours are 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on September 2.

Steeples and Steel” tours reflect the lives of European immigrants who settled in South Bethlehem in the late 1800’s through early 1900’s and became steelworkers. They left their homelands in search of a better life in America, and their cultures and faiths enriched the town where they worked. These highly-acclaimed guided tours take visitors through the neighborhoods of South Bethlehem; ethnic churches built by the immigrant steelworkers or cemeteries; and the Bethlehem Steel plant site, including the Hoover-Mason Trestle.

A church or cemetery is entered on each tour. Fritz United Methodist Church will be visited on the 9:30 AM tour. Packer Memorial Church on the Lehigh University Campus will be visited on the 1:00 PM tour.

The next tours are September 16 & November 4, 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
