Parkland School District Teacher Tiffany Houser | Teen Scientist

WDIY's quarterly feature, Teen Scientist, hosted by Rhea Malhotra returns with guests, Jessica Wang and Daniel Fein. Plus, Parkland High School student Prathysha Kothare spotlights an educational effort in Kenya being spearheaded her fifth grade teacher, Tiffany Houser from Parkland School District.

First up on the show, guest host Prathysha Kothare, a student at Parkland High School, speaks with Tiffany Houser, her fifth grade elementary school. Kothare and Houser have been working together on a pen pal educational initiative between Houser's classroom and a rural library in Kenya. This was part of a larger initiative to raise nearly 10,000 art and school supplies to send to a network of Kenyan schools and libraries. They discuss global education disparity and talk about the program and the major takeaways.

For the second half of the show, Moravian High School Rhea Malhotra returns for WDIY's Teen Scientist feature on Lehigh Valley Discourse. Malhotra speaks with two students interested in STEM research. Jessica Wang, a senior from Council Rock High School South, discusses her work designing particles to improve the delivery of drugs to liver cancer cells in the body, her plans to continue her research, and thoughts on the gender gap in STEM. Daniel Fein, a senior from Miami Palmetto Senior High School, talks about his research in smouldering multiple myeloma at the Research Science Institute of Boston.
