Allen Iverson
NPR's Tom Goldman reports that the National Basketball Association's 50th All-Star game will be played in Washington D.C. on Sunday. The league has many stars, but no transcendent superstar has emerged since the retirement of Michael Jordan. One leading candidate is Allen Iverson, a guard for the Philadelphia 76ers who is known as much for his profane outbursts and violent rap lyrics as for his wondrous play.
Middle East Analysis
Robert Siegel speaks with Daoud Kuttab, director of the Institute of Modern Media at Al Quds University, and columnist for the Jordan Times and the Jerusalem Post. Also joining the conversation is David Landau, senior editor of Ha'aretz newspaper in Tel Aviv. They discuss how Israelis and Palestinians view the political stances of the two sides, and why there has been such a failure in negotiations.
Iraq's Neighbors, Part II
Iraq is bordered on the west and east by Jordan, Syria and Turkey, countries having no particular fondness for Saddam Hussein. Still, they're not welcoming a U.S.-led attack to remove him from power. NPR's Michele Norris talks about Iraq's neighbors with Robert Pelletreau, former assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs.

Museum Exhibit Features Lost Jordanian City
An exhibit called "Petra, Lost City of Stone" is opening at the American Museum of Natural History. The city of Petra, cut into the cliffs of what is now Jordan, was a great trading crossroads of the ancient world. Hear NPR's Steve Inskeep and Craig Morris, co-curator of an exhibit.

Ozomatli Back from Mideast Tour for State Dept.
The L.A.-based band Ozomatli has wrapped up a tour sponsored by the State Department that took the group to Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia. A side note: Members of Ozomatli are vocal opponents of the war in Iraq.
