Words and Film Sunday Matinee @ EMPL continues with: “Hamnet” on Sunday, May 3rd, at 2pm at the Eastern Monroe Public Library.
Based on the best-selling novel, Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell, this film tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare's timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.
In late 16th-century England, Agnes, a healer sensitive to the world around her, builds a home with William, a local tutor and aspiring playwright. As their lives fracture, they are tested by distance, silence, and grief.
"Hamnet" is directed by Chloé Zhao and stars: Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal and Emily Watson.

In ‘A Bronx Tale: One Man Show’ – an autobiographical account of the actor’s childhood in the Bronx in the 1960s – Palminteri tells the story of a young boy named Calogero who witnesses a murder and is taken under the wing of a local mob boss.

Be a filmmaker!
Create your own short film, using the state-of-the-art audio and video recording studio at CMS. You can even have it considered for entry in the 2026 Allentown Film Festival. Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software, mics, and camera gear used in professional music and film production, including Neumann, Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro X, Allen & Heath, Neve, Black Magic Pocket Cinema, Waves, and Universal Audio. Under the direction of CMS resident audio engineer and guitar teacher, Joe Wagner, and in collaboration with local filmmaker Matt Spade and television producer Michael Schelp of the Allentown Film Festival, learn the basics of how to record and compose soundtracks, and film, edit, and debut your own 1-3 minute short film.
