The 2006 Tony nominated Best Musical The Drowsy Chaperone is an “exquisitely honed hymn to the forgotten musicals of yesteryear” ( Variety ). The show opens with a morose theatre lover who cheers himself up by playing for the audience a record of his favorite musical, a fictional 1928 show. As the record plays, the stage is transformed into an impressive Broadway set, and a parody of a 1920s musical comedy is performed. The theatre lover, invisible to the musical actors, comments on the story, the acting, and the music during the show. Filled with rollicking dance numbers and exuberant songs, The Drowsy Chaperone will delight audiences with its love of musicals from the past.

The Play That Goes Wrong
By Henry Lewis, Henry Shields, & Jonathan SayerDirected by Jennifer Childs
May 29 to June 16 | Main Stage
Philadelphia’s all comedy theatre company, 1812 Productions present their smash hit The Play That Goes Wrong as the opener on PSF’s Main Stage. This comedic sensation captivated audiences on Broadway and in London’s West End with sold-out performances before making its regional sell-out debut at 1812 last year. Now some of Philadelphia’s finest and funniest performers will reunite to stage the revival. In this Agatha Christie meets Noises Off farce, The Play That Goes Wrong will have you laughing all the way to the final curtain call. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), it’s “a riotous explosion of comedy” (The Daily Beast) and “tons of fun for all ages” (HuffPost). · Ages 8+
