New Philadelphia Grant Program to Fund Community Groups, Combat Gun Violence

Mayor Jim Kenney and Philly City Council members announced the creation of a Violence Prevention and Opportunity Monitoring Group to assist organizations applying for city funding to combat gun violence in their neighborhoods.

Philadelphia has a new process for giving out grants to community groups helping to deal with the city’s gun violence epidemic. WHYY’s Tom MacDonald reports that includes a new process for evaluating whether these groups are having an impact.
