Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters "2026 Morro Rock Tour"

Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters "2026 Morro Rock Tour"

With their newest album arriving June 12th, The Boxmasters will launch a U.S. tour soon after, marking the 21st release from the prolific duo of J.D. Andrew and Bud Thornton. Their new record, In The Bay, draws inspiration from the small coastal town of Morro Bay, California, and leans heavily into the ‘60s pop influences that have shaped the band from the start. Bud describes the album as their “humble attempt at making our Pet Sounds,” noting its strong Brian Wilson–style instrumentation. J.D. adds that while they didn’t set out to make a Beach Boys‑leaning record, the influence “runs so deep… it just happens.”

Longtime collaborator Teddy Andreadis joins on piano, including the “wind‑up” half‑speed tape effect on “The Swift,” a nod to George Martin’s classic Beatles production techniques. The “2026 Morro Rock Tour” runs mid‑June through August 8th, with stops at iconic venues including The Ryman, Billy Bob’s, Gruene Hall, and two nights at Knuckleheads in Kansas City. Fan‑favorite cities like Huntsville, Sellersville, and Tomball also return to the schedule.

Formed in 2006, The Boxmasters have built a deep and diverse catalog rooted in their love of 1960s rock and roll. Their sound reflects influences from The Beatles, Byrds, and Beach Boys, as well as The Mothers of Invention, The Allman Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, and Big Star. On the road, they’ve cultivated a devoted fanbase across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the U.K.

In 2025, The Boxmasters opened for The Who on “The Song Ends Tour,” earning a rare standing ovation—one of only three opening acts ever to do so. In April 2026, they make their Stagecoach Festival debut alongside a major rock and country lineup. They’ve also opened for ZZ Top, Steve Miller, and George Thorogood, while headlining beloved rooms like The Troubadour, Sellersville Theater, and Knuckleheads. Career highlights include two appearances at Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, a Grand Ole Opry performance, and fulfilling a lifelong dream by playing The Cavern Club in Liverpool in 2023.
