New State Bill Aims to Amend, Simplify Medical Insurance Approvals

For years, people with medical conditions have been frustrated by health insurance plans that won’t pay for the medications or treatments their doctors recommend. WITF’s Brett Sholtis reports, state lawmakers passed a bill that they say will change that.

His award-winning work on problem areas in mental health policy and policing helped to get a woman moved from a county jail to a psychiatric facility. Sholtis is a University of Pittsburgh graduate and a Pennsylvania Army National Guard Kosovo campaign veteran.
