The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry will offer free credit-monitoring services to all unemployment compensation claimants, as a federal investigation into the state’s unemployment system continues. WDIY's Sarit Laschinsky has the details.
Any claimant who believes their account has experienced unusual changes is encouraged to contact the department.
Fraud can be reported by calling the PA Fraud Hotline at 1-800-692-7469 or by visiting the unemployment compensation website at benefits.uc.pa.gov, clicking "report fraud here," and completing and submitting the identity theft form.
Identity theft fraud related to the federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program can also be reported online here.
Employers should indicate a claim is fraudulent in their response to the Notice of Claim Filed.
Identity fraud victims are also encouraged to file a police report with law enforcement, and provide a copy of that report to the Office of Employment Compensation.
The U.S. Department of Labor also recommends that victims report their information to the National Center for Disaster Fraud, and consider starting a recovery plan with the Federal Trade Commission.
