Pennsylvanians Encouraged to File Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Applications Online
Commonwealth Media Services

The state Department of Revenue is encouraging older and disabled Pennsylvanians to apply for rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2021. WDIY's Sarit Laschinsky has the details.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits income-eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows or widowers age 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online at mypath.pa.gov.

The income limit is $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded.
The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for certain qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975.

Rebates will be distributed beginning July 1, and the application deadline is June 30, 2022.

Anyone who wishes to file on paper can find the necessary forms and related information at revenue.pa.gov, or by calling 1-888-222-9190.
