Up for Auction in February, Wind Farms off NY, NJ Coasts Could Power at Least Two Million Homes

The Biden Administration has announced the largest offshore wind energy lease sale in federal waters. Six parcels off the coasts of New Jersey and New York will be auctioned in February. Officials say the wind farms would generate enough energy to power at least two million homes.

WHYY’s Susan Phillips reports it’s part of a push to move away from fossil fuels and toward renewables.
