PA Spraying Insecticide to Combat Spread of Invasive Lanternflies

Pennsylvania officials have begun spraying insecticide to control the invasive spotted lanternfly. The inspect arrived in the state from Asia seven years ago and can destroy trees and vines.

WHYY StateImpact Pennsylvania’s Susan Phillips reports the pest has spread to 11 states on the East Coast.

A graduate of Columbia School of Journalism, she earned her Bachelor's degree in International Relations from George Washington University.
