This week's host Bill Dautremont-Smith talks with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, in advance of his WDIY sponsored performance at Lehigh University's Zoellner Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 13.  They talk about his growing up as the son of the legendary guitarist Ali Farka Touré, becoming a professional musician at a relatively late age just before his father's death and against his advice, his musical career and international collaborations since then, his new album, "Mon Pays", returning to his roots and celebrating Mali and reminding us of its enormously rich music traditions at a time when what we hear about is the political and religious conflict and the banning of musical performance, and finally his upcoming first performance in the Lehigh Valley. (Orignal air date September 28, 2013.)
