The Rider-Pool Foundation has awarded WDIY a grant to fund the production and broadcast of the monthly public affairs program HealthBEAT. The grant was one of 11 awards announced last week as part of The Foundation's 2020 grant awards.
In the announcement, the trustees of the Allentown-based Foundation said their 2020 grant awards were focused on a long-term approach to assist the health and well-being of Allentown residents.
HealthBEAT, which launched on WDIY in October 2020, centers its discussion on the social determinants of health including physical activities, access to nutritious food, and social interaction. The program is hosted by WDIY's Greg Capogna and the Rider-Pool Foundation's Edward Meehan.
The Foundation's grant award will fund the production and broadcast of HealthBEAT throughout 2021, helping to cover such costs as studio rent, utilities, and maintenance of broadcast equipment. HealthBEAT airs on WDIY on the final Monday of each month between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. with podcasts available for listening anytime on wdiy.org.
