Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) held a press conference Tuesday afternoon in front of the South Bethlehem Post Office. Joined by local union leaders, Rep. Wild criticized what she says is an undermining and underfunding of the Postal Service. WDIY's James Johnson has this report.
Rep. Wild was joined by union leaders Andrew Kubat, president of the Lehigh Valley Area Local American Postal Workers Union, and Angelo Fetter, representative of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 274, which covers Bethlehem to Quakertown.
Rep. Wild recounted the warnings from the Postal Service which says that new operational changes threaten to delay deliveries and deny voters the ability to pass their vote through the mail in the upcoming November election. "Inaction is not an option," Wild said. She called upon congress to take swift action to bring fast and effective relief to post offices in the Lehigh Valley and around the nation.
