Martin Guitar's Dick Boak Discusses The Kingston Trio's Lasting Impact on Folk Classics

Longtime Martin Guitar archivist Dick Boak joins host Steve Aaronson in the WDIY studio to tell us about his feature in the new issue of Acoustic Guitar Magazine discussing the Kingston Trio's lasting impact on American music and culture.

The Kingston Trio's polished repertoire of folk- and calypso-derived songs, clean vocal harmonies, and clean-cut college boy stage personae left an indelbile mark on American culture, popular music, and instrument sales and innovations.

Boak tells us more about the music group from his vantage point, having spent 40+ years working alongside the top craftsmen and luthiers at the iconic Nazareth-based guitar company.

Boak's work at Martin led him to meeting some of music's biggest names, going on to design the company’s Eric Clapton model and managing Martin’s Custom Shop, among other duties.
