Lehigh Conference of Churches' Work with Addiction and Mental Health on Take Charge of Your Life

From left to right: Christina DiPierro, host Eleanor Bobrow, and Larry Pickens

Eleanor Bobrow talked to individuals active in the Lehigh Conference of Churches about resources in the community that help people deal with mental health illness and addiction as a spiritual journey. Eleanor's guests were Larry Pickens, Director of the Lehigh Conference of Churches since 2014, and Christina DiPierro, Director of the Daybreak program since 2012.
For more than 60 years, the Lehigh Conference of Churches has brought together area congregations in responding to the needs of  "the least among us" while building ecumenical and interfaith partnerships.

The LCOC's Daybreak program began in Allentown in 1979 and aims to prevent homelessness by providing a tight-knit community ("a family for those who have none") to those living with mental illness or physical disabilities, those struggling with addiction or HIV/AIDS, and the neighborhood’s elderly.
