The Last Thursday Band is a virtuosic ensemble combining diverse musical backgrounds to yield an energetic, powerful mix of classic and contemporary jazz, r&b, and soul with hints of pop, rock and blues.
Boston, a city known for diverse music, saw its country scene thrive with Ward Hayden & The Outliers, led by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ward Hayden. Formerly Girls Guns & Glory, the band carved its niche with a unique C&W and rock’n’roll blend, earning acclaim across America and Europe. Their ninth LP, “South Shore,” is Hayden’s closest venture into a concept album, recounting his small-town upbringing, the challenges of leaving, and the pursuit of dreams. In their two-decade journey, the Ward Hayden & The Outliers earned seven Boston Music Awards, the French Country Music Awards’ Independent Artist of the Year, and an Americana Music Awards nomination. With a regular presence on the Americana chart and SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country channel, their music, described as “incredibly endearing,” embodies the finest traditions of contemporary country.

This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980s all-female rock band The Go-Go's, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle's “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” A modern musical fairy tale where once-upon-a-time is right now, it follows the escapades of a royal family who set out on a journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction.

Wildlands Conservancy recently acquired 187 acres across the road from Franko Farm Recreation Area. The Sanctuary is in both Upper Saucon and Salisbury townships. This area provides fine views of the Lehigh Valley and is known as a stopover for migrating birds. There are smooth treadways as well as rocks and roots. We’ll climb gradually on a switchback trail to the power line. Cross in front of a pile of big rocks, cross the power line and re-enter the woods. Lots of plants and wildflowers in the open area under the power line. The elevation gain is 393 feet. We’ll descend through forest on the other side of the ridge and then ascend the south face of the power line, pass some intriguing rock formations, and back down. This hike is about 3 miles.
Wear comfortable footwear. Dress appropriately for the weather. Hiking poles strongly recommended. Wildlands will have some for you to use if you don’t have any. Dogs on leash are welcome. Portable bathrooms are across the road at Franko Farm Recreation Area.
This walk is free and is part of the Get Out! For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online at: https://www.wildlandspa.org/events/.
