Musikfest is celebrating their 35th year in 2018, and this year's festivities  will feature more than 500 free music and art performances during its 10-day run. On this edition of Lehigh Valley Arts Salon, Charles James welcomes ArtsQuest Chief Programming Officer Patrick Brogan and Talent Buyer Helen Smith to discuss all the festival has to offer this year.

SouthSide Arts & Music Festival on LV Arts Salon

This week's show was devoted to the upcoming SouthSide Arts & Music Festival, taking place April 20-21, 2018 in Bethlehem. In addition to live music, the festival will showcase visual and performance art in both expected and unexpected places.

Joining hosts George Miller and Kate Scuffle were guests Stacie Brennan, senior director of visual arts education for ArtsQuest, and James West, who sculpted "Split Infinity," a 2,000-lb. bronze sculpture that is one of the festival centerpieces.

NPR's Ask Me Another host Ophira Eisenberg stopped by the WDIY studios while in Bethlehem to perform a stand-up comedy show at SteelStacks in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room. She talked with host Shamus McGroggan about the show, her history with comedy, and more.

Ask Me Another airs Saturdays at 10 AM on WDIY.

The Accidentals Live on The Blend

Michigan indie alt-Americana band The Accidentals joined host Bill Dautremont-Smith in the studio for a live performance and interview about their meteoric career.

This young multi-instrumentalist trio are on a national tour promoting their third album, Odyssey, that has garnered critical acclaim and a lot of airplay on WDIY. The band was in town to play a show later that night at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

The current exhibition at the the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem is "The New Black - Volunteerism," a show about people, community and the giving capacity of the human spirit, featuring unique portraits created with wood stain on maple panels. 

Artist D Nina Cruz joined hosts George Miller and Kate Scuffle to discuss this celebration of giving back as a work of art.
